Max the Great was inspired by a very real—and very unforgettable—dog.
Max, a small but fearless Chihuahua mix, quickly became known for his big personality, loud bark, and unwavering belief that it was his job to protect his home from anything that moved. From watching the world through the window to barking at “intruders” like delivery drivers and deer, Max’s daily antics sparked a simple question: What is he thinking?
That question turned into a story.
Written from a dog’s perspective, Max the Great imagines a world where Max is a brave protector defending his kingdom from mysterious “monsters.” The story blends humor, imagination, and heart—inviting children to see the world through their pet’s eyes while guessing what those “monsters” might really be.
The book itself came together over time. What started as an idea grew quietly in Danielle Scott’s mind before being written down during a rare quiet weekend. After years of waiting for the right moment, the story was finally brought to life—proving that sometimes creativity, like Max himself, works on its own timeline.
